Elizabeth Strickland

Elizabeth Strickland, 19, and daughter of Mike Strickland, is a classical pianist and performer. She graduated high school with honors Spring 2011 and is now a freshman in college majoring in Classical Piano Performance.

She has performed her classical selections in well over 150 of her dad’s concerts with audiences from 100 to 3000, sometimes joining her dad on four-hands piano arrangements of ragtime, boogie-woogie and novelty songs.

Elizabeth has studied with Cassandra Carr (2000 – 2007) and Dorothy Fahlman of Portland, OR (2007 – 2011).
Some highlights in 2011 include placing 1st in the OMTA (Oregon Music Teachers Association) Scholarship Award Competitions, presenting full recitals for the the Derthick Music Club, Maryswoods at and Terwilliger Plaza, and being a featured guest performer with the Salem Pops Orchestra. She is the recipient of The Beaux Arts Society Scholarship and was awarded a music scholarship from the Rislov Foundation.

For the summer of 2011, Elizabeth was accepted for a second year in a row to attend one of the top summer music festivals in the country, Pianofest in the Hamptons, where she had the opportunity take part in daily master classes and lessons from some of the most stellar teachers/concert artists in the world. In addition, the attendees perform several concerts for the community.

Elizabeth has taken master classes and/or lessons with Richard Egarr, Edward Auer, Paul Schenly, Dean Kramer, Peter Mack, Awadagin Pratt, Blair McMillen, Peter Takacs, Mario Feninger, Dr. Julia Black, Gail Berenson, William Nyaho, Benjamin Kim and Susan Chan.

In addition to participating in her father’s outreach activities such as school concerts, Elizabeth enjoys getting with young pianists in the communities where she performs and sharing her knowledge about classical piano.
